How to Apply – Our Application Process
 Step 1: Explore York House
To learn more about what the York House experience is, we encourage you to browse through our website and contact us if you have any questions or would like more information. You may wish to visit us and have a tour. Just contact our Admissions Office. We also invite you to come to our Open House sessions in November.
Step 2: Apply
To apply to York House School or the Early Childhood Learning Centre, contact the Admissions Office to request an application package. You may also download one of our application forms.
Return the completed form along with the $200 application fee and supporting documents to the Admissions Office by December 1, 2009. Applications received after this date will be considered if space permits. Our Admissions Policy
Step 3: Assessment
All applicants will be invited to visit the School to participate in an assessment in January. This assessment is designed to determine an applicant’s readiness for our program, their abilities and interests.
For Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten and Grade 1 Assessments, applicants come in small groups for about 1 hour, during the course of which they participate in one-on-one assessment with a teacher, as well as play time. Assessment consists of exploring applicants' readiness skills. The Grade 2-7 Junior School Assessment takes 1.5 hours and consists of problem-solving, reading and writing exercises, as well as a one-on-one interview. The Senior School Assessment (Grades 8-12) takes 3 hours and is comprised of problem-solving, reading and writing exercises. Interviews may be applicable.
Step 4: Decision
Each applicant is notified of the status of her application – accept, suitable candidate or denied. Admission decisions are typically finalized by end of March.
Step 5: Re-Apply
We usually have more qualified applicants than spaces, so we encourage you to re-apply. All applications will be kept on file for 1 year. If you wish to re-apply for the following year, please contact the Admissions Office by December 1 and provide updated documents and a $50 re-application fee.
